Non-profit in the Bronx with Diaper Center – distributes free diapers to mothers with children 2 years or younger + live in NYC + are on WIC and/or SNAP. Appointment needed to get diapers.

On Diaper Center website, check patient’s eligibility, help them compile all the documents they need to pick up diapers, and call on Monday 9:30 AM – 5 PM to schedule an appointment for them.

Newborn Home Visiting Program

Provides free crib to parents in need, along with one visit from a health worker who provides education about sleep safety, breastfeeding, development, etc.

Check patient eligibility - families with 0-3 month old baby living in specified neighborhoods. Call NHVP office in patient neighborhood to get them enrolled.

Nurse-Family Partnership

Pairs expecting first-time moms with personal nurse who provides free support, advice, and information throughout pregnancy.

Check patient eligibility - must be first-time mom 28 weeks or less pregnant and be under specified income. Call program or fill out interest form on website to request nurse.

WIC (Women, Infants, and Children)

Government program that provides free food, nutrition counseling, and access to health services to low-income women and their children.

Find WIC local agency near patient, call that agency to make an appointment for patient. Check documents that patient should bring to appointment.

Citywide Doula Initiative

Provides no-cost doula services to residents of specific low-income neighborhoods around NYC.

Check patient eligibility - must live in one of these neighborhoods and be income-eligible for Medicaid. Reach out to program in corresponding Zip Code.

Room to Grow

Three year program (late pregnancy through early childhood) to support low-income families. Provides free baby & toddler items and parenting support.

Have expecting parents who are eligible for other benefits (SNAP, WIC, etc.) apply here before the start of their third trimester.

Healthy Families NY

Offers frequent home-based services to expectant families and new parents. Provides parenting support, helps aid child’s development, connects families to medical care and other community resources.

Provides free learning and development services to children ages birth to 5 from low-income families to promote school readiness. Offers center-based or home-based options, helps connect families to free child care.

Prevention Assistance and Temporary Housing (PATH)

All families with children seeking shelter in NYC must apply at the PATH intake center in the Bronx. Pregnant women and families with a pregnant woman may also apply for shelter at PATH.

Direct patient to PATH intake center and make sure they bring all required documents with them.

Inwood House - The Children’s Village

Provides temporary housing and/or counseling and support in parenting, education, employment, etc. for pregnant or parenting teen moms.

Look at program map to find program near and relevant to patient. Contact specific program to help get patient enrolled.

Provides social services (counseling, temporary housing, legal help, etc.) for victims of abuse. Programs include Family Justice Centers, Family Courts, Child Abuse services, Domestic Violence services, etc.
