Lenox Hill Community House Health Fair

From board member Katie Wilcox:

On Friday, April 22, the Weill Cornell Community Clinic participated in the Lenox Hill Community House Health Fair. The Lenox Hill Community House provides a broad scope of support for the local community, including health and wellness, adult education, legal advocacy, after school programs, and much more. The Health Fair allows for health screening and counseling for Lenox Hill families who do not have regular access to health care, due to immigration status, cost, or other barriers to care.

The Weill Cornell Community Clinic provided healthy heart screening to health fair participants, including blood pressure, blood glucose levels, hemoglobin A1c, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides. Patients then individually met with Dr. Charney, who were then interpreted results and provided individual counseling. About 60 families attended the Health Fair, and almost all received healthy heart screening by WCCC volunteers. For some of these patients, it was the first time they had ever been screened. The WCCC looks forward to participating in more community health fairs in the area in the near future!
